Geometric Dress & Sam Edelman Booties

Hello everyone, hope you had a great Thanksgiving! For the holiday, we traveled back to Kansas City to spend time with my family. We were so blessed this year. My family from Houston, TX drove up for the holiday/weekend. The last three days have been filled with lots of laughing, eating and reminiscing. Last night we pulled out old family photo and each of us saw several embarrassing photos, not to mention the stories that go along with the photos. There's something so special about passing around photos and talking about the past.

As for today's outfit, prints and patterns were very popular this year on the runway. Chanel, Valentino and Alexander McQueen showed off their beautiful pieces in New York, Milan, London and Paris. This trend is easy to add to any wardrobe. Most prints and patterns can be worn with black accessories. Typically I wear this dress in the summer, but can easily be transitioned with black tights and booties.

See everyone on Monday, going to spend a few more days hanging out with my family!

Week three of our blogger collaboration is here! The last few weeks have been really fun seeing how five other woman style the same trend different ways. This week we're featuring pastels. Which is one of the biggest trends in fashion this season. This trend was tough for my waredrobe, especially in the winter. I looked through my closet ten times and I found my plush pink silk pjs, baby blue oxford and this pastel green skirt. After looking at the same three pieces, I decided on the vintage wool skirt.

Last year, I picked up this vintage Miu Miu skirt from my favorite consignment shop in San Francisco. The beige coat and fur headband were the perfect addition to my the wool skirt. Fallon did a great job mixing pastels in here outfit. Who doesn't love her pale pink coat! I've walked passed a pale pink coat in Zara several times and I still regret not picking it up.

5 Work Blouses from Express under $30

5 Versitle Work Blouses under $30

This time of the year is the best time to stock up on great pieces for your work wardrobe. A blouse under $30 that you'll wear over 30 times to works, is a great buy in my book. Express has always made great work blouses. Throughout the years they've stuck with what works, simplicity. I own one black Portofino blouse and I wear it at least once a week to work (see here, here, here & here). On Monday morning when I don't feel like being creative with my wardrobe, I grab this blouse and a pencil skirt and I'm out the door. Here's why I love this blouse; it doesn't wrinkle, never fades, the v-neck collar, converts from long sleeve to 3/4 sleeve and most importantly, the fit of the blouse. The material and over design of the blouse is very flattering to a woman's curves. The traditional cotton oxford shirts doesn't work well with my body, it always seems to pull at the bust. With this blouse, I never have this problem.

At the office I try and mix colors into my outfit as much as possible. I think this is easily accomplished with solid colors. For example, if I'm wearing a cherry red pencil skirt, mixing it with a nude or grey blouse (like shown above) is great look for the office. Or vice versa. If I'm wearing a bright green top, I stick with solid color pants. You can add black trousers, pinstriped pencil skirt or grey slacks. To keep it simple, I usually grab one color item and one neutral item. Seems simple enough, but most women opt for black and grey at the office.

Back to the Portofino blouse, it's amazing. If you don't own one, I highly recommend adding one to your wardrobe. Today they're having a pre-black Friday sale. I think I'm going to pick up a few, look forward to posting outfits with the new blouse!

Tibi Dress & Faux Fur Vest

Winter is finally upon us! Hope everyone is staying warm. I thought I was ready for the cold weather, I was so wrong. My first glimpse of the cold was over the weekend. We went to Dana's engagement party in Brooklyn. She has such a beautiful view of the city. When we came back to Manhattan we wanted to grabbed a bite to eat. As we left Grand Central and headed to one of our favorite late night spots, my teeth started to chatter. At that moment, I started to dream about San Francisco. The breezy fifty degree weather doesn't seem that bad anymore.

The Tibi dress I wore a few months back during Lucky Fabb. The electric blue is so beautiful, especially during this time of the year when I find myself wearing black and grey, a lot. Of course the faux fur went perfectly with the dress. Not sure if you can see in the photos, but I have on tights. I found these over the summer and they seem to match perfectly with my skin. Still on the lookout for a nice pair of "skin color" tights. I have a feeling these Walgreen tights won't get me through this season. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Black Dress & Lace Socks with Heels

Today I'm moving outside my comfort zone a bit. The last two months I've read so many articles about wearing socks with heels. It's one of my favorite trends, but I never seem to have the "right" heels or socks. While at Lord and Taylor last week I picked up these laces socks in an effort to try out the trend. The black lace seemed like the least risky. You can wear black lace with almost anything. When I got home I tried on the socks with 3-4 pairs of heels and I came across these Vince Camuto heels from the summer and they work great. The black dress was an easy addition to the socks and heels. This outfit is great to wear during the holidays. If you're attending a casual Holiday party, try out new trends. I think parties are the easiest way to go out on a limb with fashion and try something new.
