Hello everyone! I'm going to try something different today. Instead of giving you a high level overview of my outfit, I want to explain why I bought the pieces I'm wearing. All the pieces I'm wearing are staples in my closet and have been worn several times. When shopping, I recommend finding pieces you'll wear over and over again. You'll spend less money and have more outfits to wear. It will also keep you from overthinking "What should I wear today?". 

Sweater- navy blue is a great color for the fall and winter season. It goes with almost any other color and it has a side zipper. Why is the side zipper important?  For someone like myself, a 3/4 sweater can make me look short. However having a zipper opens up the sweater and shows the side of my jeans. Having this small opening to see my jeans, gives the illusion of a longer legs, thus elongating my body. 

Denim- these pants are soft, stretchy and ultra skinny. They can be worn with any top and make you look slim. Since I'm petite, a cropped pair of denim is perfect for my body. No hemming needed. I wear these jeans 4-5 times a week. I haven't worn another pair of jeans since I purchased these a month ago. No exaggeration.

Joie OTK boots - two words, neutral suede. These boots elongate my body, especially with these skinny jeans. The soft suede looks great with so many colors; from black to bright red.

When I first spotted this skirt online, I tried to imagine how I could wear it with my other pieces in my wardrobe. A classic white button down shirt was my first instinct. However, after trying it on with an oversized sweater, like this one from Gap, I've realized there are several different ways to wear this skirt. I also love the way the boots look with my over the knee boots. The camel color skirt is a great staple for the fall season.

Good morning everyone! Hope you had a good weekend. This weekend we had guests in town, so we  got to eat at some of our favorite places in the city. Anytime we can make an excuse to go to DUMBO to eat Grimaldi's pizza and indulge delicious chocolate chip cookies from Jacques Torress, it's always a good weekend! 

This season I've been doing a lot of layering and these J.Crew blazers have been key to my looks. I've worn these blazers to the office, wedding rehearsals and strolling around the city.  The high collar is one of my favorite characteristics about the blazer. Instead of the traditional collar, the high collar gives you a slightly preppy look. It also gives you a more "put together" appearance, opposed to some blazer that can make a women's appearance look a little stiff. 

Try a similar look at the office with a button down shirt, cardigan and blazer. It's a great way to stay warm on your commute to work and deal with the ever-change temperatures in the office.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Early Sunday morning we returned to New York after a fun weekend in the suburbs of Chicago. One of my best friends from college got married at Hotel Baker in St. Charles. Her wedding was beautiful. I loved the flowers she picked for her fall themed wedding. I posted a few photos on my Instagram page. 

Today I'm wearing a drop waist dress from H&M with a jeweled belt. For the most part, I try and stay away from these types of dresses because they don't give my body any shape. I threw on the belt to show off my waist and break up the busy pattern on the dress. Of course, I'm wearing my favorite gray coat. Eventually I'll add another coat to my wardrobe, but this coat has gone with so many of outfits this season.

Whenever J.Crew has it's next sale, I'm thinking about purchasing either this coat or this coat. I love the quality of their winter pieces. If you're on the lookout for coats, check out J.Crew or Zara.

Happy Halloween! This weekend one of my best friends is getting married in Chicago, so we'll be attending her rehearsal dinner tonight. I'm going to pack a costume, but dressing up might have to wait till next year. 

Today's outfit is my travel outfit to Chicago. These jeans are currently my "go to" when traveling. I love that they worn with several different tops. From chunky sweaters to petite tops, which makes packing easier for me. My "Paris" sweatshirt is currently my favorite piece in my closet. Like most women, I love Paris. It's whimsical streets, iconic views and renowned wine are like something out of a movie. Hopefully another trip to Paris is in my near future!
