How to Wear a Leather Skirt

Wearing a leather skirt to the office, is out of the question when it comes to my ultra conservative workplace. HOWEVER, outside the office a {faux} leather skirt is a perfect option when meeting friends out for drinks or a date at a trendy restaurant. You still look sophisticated and sexy. This brown skirt from ZARA has done wonders for my "after hour" outfits. It looks great with sweaters, button up blouses and peplum tops. A few months ago, I wore this SKIRT with a blue sweater. The sweater puts a soft touch to the faux leather, whereas this striped blouse and clutch brings is a perfect outfit for meeting your bestie out on the town. The d'Orsay heels work with this outfit, but if I were to wear it again, I would wear my Valentino heels or black pumps.

Five Work Coats under $100

Five Work Coats under $100

one :: Zara $100
two :: Warehouse $98
three :: Mango $98
four :: UNIQLO $80
five :: Forever 21 $60

 The past few weeks I've been on the prowl for the perfect coat. This time of year is the best time to find coats at half the price. This weekend I'm going to stop searching and finally pull the trigger and buy a new coat, just not sure which one I want! However, these coats worn by KIM K. are some of my favorite this season. The oversized coat is what I was looking for in my next purchase, however I adore the feminine camel belted coat and the sophisticated navy coat. Both would also make a great addition to my daily office look.

Here's another collage on OVERSIZED BOYFRIEND COATS done by blogger TORONTO SHOPOHOLIC and she talks about petite girls being able to pull off these trends.

How to Wear Snakeskin to Work

Morning everyone! I'm heading up to Connecticut for the day for a business meeting. Love walking into Grand Central to start my day. For today's blog post I'm wearing one of my favorite prints, snakeskin! I wish I had more pieces in my closet. Snakeskin is a great way to mix up the daily grind of a black, white and grey at the office. A few things I'd recommend when wearing snakeskin to the office, pair it with neutral colors or go for all black. Typically my snakeskin blouse is worn with black trousers and black pumps. A nice pair of snakeskin pumps would also be a great piece to add to your closet. A few years ago I purchased a pair of Rachel Roy nude snakeskin pumps and they were a staple for my daily office outfit.

Here are a few more pieces that you might like to add to your office wardrobe; LOFT blouse, Macy's blouse, Joie blouse, Simply Vera pumps, Coach pumps, Giambattista pumps

Top :: Express
Skirt :: J. Crew
Bag :: Coach (love this one)
Heels :: Zara old (love these and similar here )

Weekend Casual with Printed Sweater & Skinny Jeans

As we inch closer and closer to Spring, a part of me is really going to miss the cold weather. Last year when I lived in San Francisco, I never thought this would come out of my mouth. The past few months in New York have been so memorable. I've really enjoyed the snow and cold weather. Growing up in the Midwest and experiencing the four season probably has something to do with me cherishing the change in weather, nonetheless it's been a beautiful winter.

On the weekends I like to be a little more casual. I typically steer clear of any work pieces. However, I've been incorporating the PORTOFINO blouse from Express over the past few weekends. Today's outfit is very simple; sweater and skinny jeans. I've been wanting to wear this sweater all season and it paired great with these heels.

This Week in the Fashion & Business World

 Good morning everyone! I've been looking forward to this post. I've been collecting articles all week. Some didn't make the cut, but I think you'll enjoy the ones I've included in the roundup.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. My weekend is filled with brunches, lunches and drinks with girlfriends. Oh yes...and a good friend needs to go shopping for work clothes, I jumped all over this opportunity! I'm finally going to put my "corporate catwalk" expertise to the work. Wish me good luck!

here's what caught my eye in the fashion and business world...
  • If Dave Beckham's collection from H&M wasn't enough, he's releasing a CHILDREN'S WEAR collection.
  •  Great article about how Kate Upton dealt with NEGATIVE COMMENTS at the beginning of her career.
  •  While everyone was rounding up the best moments in 2013, BING took a new approach and  recognized the inspiring women of 2013.
  • Couldn't agree more with this article. The big secret to a successful career is HARD WORK. Throughout my career, the mos successful people in business always outwork everyone in office.
  •  Love this article, featuring a photos of Marissa Mayer, talking about tech women building their own NETWORK. It's a long, but worth reading.
  • Just because I think this is cool...Marriott opens tallest hotel in New York with a record high of 54.3 MILLION tourists in 2013.
